This unprecedented amount of rain caused severe flooding, disrupting flights at Dubai International Airport and leading to traffic disruptions across the city. The heavy rainfall was attributed to a storm that hit the United Arab Emirates and Oman, bringing record rainfall that flooded highways, inundated houses, and trapped people in floodwaters.
